'Out of favour' Oz quick Johnson used Lillee to breathe life into vanquished career

Sydney, May 11(ANI): Former Australia strike fast bowler Mitchell Johnson, who sat out the home summer with a toe injury, looked to legendary Dennis Lillee to revive his international career.

Johnson was a surprise selection in Australia's 15-man one-day squad to head to England next month and was also named in the 17-man Australia A touring party.

Chairman of selectors John Inverarity supported Johnson to become a regular international again, and claimed he was part of the selection panel's thinking for the Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka during September and October.

"I think there's a strong chance he'll come back. He sought out Dennis Lillee because Dennis had injuries. Dennis wasn't the same bowler when he was 32 as when he was 25. He went through that transition," Fox Sports quote Inverarity, as saying.

"He (Johnson) has been receiving good tuition on that, so let's hope he does (come back) because I think he's a very good player," he added. (ANI)
