Sydney, May 10(ANI): Undaunted by the world's number one player Novak Djokovic's criticism over the introduction of the blue clay courts during the Madrid Masters, controversial tennis promoter Ion Tiriac has said he is now planning to bring in psychedelic balls for the next year's tournament.
Djokovic had scornfully said on Thursday it was so difficult to play on the new blue clay court in Madrid that he considered asking Chuck Norris for help.
Tiriac, who is the tournament's owner, is hardly bothered by the sarcastic comments, and is hell-bent in bringing in more innovation to the sport.
"We are also going to improve the ball. We're thinking fluorescent green or fluorescent orange, which hold light better and work better in contrast to blue clay," The Herald Sun quoted Tiriac, as saying.
However, the ATP said it had heard nothing of the Romanian tycoon's plans to change balls.
Tiriac accepted there were problems with the court surface, and said: " It looks like the court is too slippery and we have to fix that. But today, five days into the tournament, I am more convinced than ever that blue clay is a great step forward." (ANI)
