London, May 8 (ANI): It has been revealed that Wayne Rooney is a secret fan of the stage and that he regularly attends performances.
Since wife Coleen, 26, introduced the England striker to the arts his on-field behaviour has improved.
The booking he got in Sunday's game against Swansea at Old Trafford was his first of the season.
And friends credit his interest in culture for taming his on-pitch antics.
"Wayne wouldn't have gone anywhere near the theatre a year ago but he has really got into it," the Daily Mail quoted a source close to Wayne as saying.
"His son Kai is at the age now where day trips are standard for the family.
"Wayne and Coleen have taken him to the theatre a couple of times. He also loves Harry Potter flicks.
"Col took him to see The Tiger Who Came For Tea and he loved it so Wayne decided he would go along next time and loved it too. It was meant to be for Kai's enjoyment but Wayne couldn't get enough. In the past when he and Col have gone out it would be for a nice meal or a drink. But now he suggests the theatre," the source said.
Wayne, 26, has visited a number of theatres, including the Liverpool Empire and the Lowry in Manchester, for shows. (ANI)
