U.S. should provide information on Zawahiri's presence in Pak: Hina Rabbani Khar
Islamabad, May 8 (ANI): Reacting to U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton's claim about the presence of Ayman-al-Zawahiri in Pakistan, the country's Foreign Minister, Hina Rabbani Khar, has asked Washington to tell Islamabad about the whereabouts of the Al-Qaeda kingpin.
"We are part of the U.S. war against Al-Qaeda. We need specific intelligence sharing on Al-Zawahiri. Washington must share this information with Islamabad," The Express Tribune quoted Khar, as saying.
Clinton, who is on visit to Kolkata, had said the U.S. believes Al-Qaeda leader Ayman-al-Zawahiri is "somewhere in Pakistan".
Clinton also said that Pakistan has not taken necessary action against Jamaatud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed, who is suspected of masterminding the terror attack in Mumbai in 2008.
"We are well aware that no steps have been taken by the Pakistani government to do what both India and the United States have repeatedly requested them they do," Clinton was quoted by the paper, as saying.
"And we are going to keep pushing that point. So it's a way of raising the visibility and pointing out to those who are associated with him that there is a cost for that," she added. (ANI)
