Flood kills 25 Afghans at wedding party

Kabul, May 8 (IANS) At least 25 people were killed while attending a wedding party in an Afghan village as flood washed away several houses, a government official said. Locals believe over 100 people are still missing.

 

The incident occurred late Sunday night as flood washed away several houses and killed people at the wedding party in Saripul province, Xinhua quoted provincial spokesperson Farid Dehati as saying Monday.

 

"The tragic incident took place in Dah Marda village of Sangcharak district at late night when scores of villagers including women and children were attending a wedding party. So far 25 bodies have been recovered," Dehati said.
