Moderate earthquake hits Azerbaijan

Beijing, May 7 (Xinhua-ANI): A moderate earthquake jolted Azerbaijan on Monday morning, with no damage or casualties having been reported so far.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 5.6-magnitude tremor struck at 0440 GMT and its epicenter, with a depth of 23.30 km, was located 14 km southeast of Zaqatala city in northwestern Azerbaijan and 291 km northwest of Baku.

So far, there have been no reports of damage or casualties caused by the temblor, whose magnitude the China Earthquake Networks Center placed at 6.0. (Xinhua-ANI)
