Swansea boss Rodgers hails Man U's veteran Scholes as 'best player' in PL history

London, May 6(ANI): Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers believes Manchester United's legendary midfielder Paul Scholes is the best player to have ever played in the Premier League.

Speaking ahead of his team's match against United, Rodgers said Scholes is a true role model for everyone, and would be the first player he would pick while selecting his all time Premier League XI team.

"I've loved watching him. I've got such admiration for his game. He is a wonderful example of a British player," The Daily Star quoted Rodgers, as saying.

"I was asked to pick my best Premier League team and he was the first player I picked - I can't compliment him any higher than that," he added.

Rodgers assisted Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, and it was after the club's 2008 Champions League final defeat to United in Moscow that he saw the quiet, humble side to Scholes.

"He's a wonderful role model, I'll never forget his humility in Moscow. He had just won one of the biggest prizes in world football but he couldn't wait to get back on the bus," Rodgers added. (ANI)
