Eight killed in avalanche triggered flood in Nepal

Kathmandu, May 5 (Xinhua-ANI): As many as 8 bodies have been recovered so far as a major avalanche in Annapurna range triggered a massive flood in Seti River in Kaski district of western Nepal Saturday.
Dozens of people have been missing in the avalanche flood including three Russian tourists. Three people have been rescued alive but it is feared that the number of death tolls could rise. The flood also caused massive destruction to human settlement around the area.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajendra Bhandaree told Xinhua that people are terrorized as the flood is moving towards Ramghat of Pokhara.
Nepali Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has directed all rescue agencies in the country to prompt immediate and efficient actions for rescue operations. Police and army rescue team have already been mobilized in the area. (Xinhua-ANI)
