Lahore, May 5 (ANI): Reacting to Australian High Commissioner Timothy George's statement regarding revival of international cricket in Pakistan, Zaka Ashraf, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, said it was a positive sign for the country's cricket scenario.

"The views of Australian High Commissioner about Pakistan cricket will surely help us get international cricket back to Pakistan," the Daily Times quoted Ashraf, as saying.

"On behalf of the PCB and all cricket fans in the country, I appreciate the statement made by Mr George. It reflects the feelings of our cricketing frenzy nation, who desperately want to see international teams playing cricket in our local stadiums. Coming from the representative of a great cricketing nation, these words will surely help in furthering Pakistan's cause for the return of international cricket back in the country," he added.

Earlier, George had praised Ashraf for his efforts to revive international cricket in the country.

"I see a very bright future of Pakistan cricket the way Mr Zaka is endeavoring for the development of the game in the country. Under him, Pakistan cricket will surely flourish. And if he maintains the same zest, I am sure international cricket will be revived in Pakistan," the paper quoted George, as saying.

"I want to see the revival of international cricket in Pakistan but I am not sure when the Australian team would come here to play," he said.

"It is the Australian Government that will be taking the decision on the Australian team's visit to Pakistan but in my personal opinion they should visit here," he added. (ANI)
