Champions Dempo aim to end I-League on high note

Kolkata, May 4 (IANS) Already assured the I-League football title, champions Dempo face Prayag United in the last round here Saturday at the Salt Lake Stadium and aim to end the season on a high note with a win.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will present the Champions Trophy to Dempo after the match. As a special gesture, Prayag United would also present a Guard of Honour to the Champions prior to the kick-off of the match.

Prayag go into the match with 42 points from 25 matches while Dempo have an unassailable 54 points from 25 outings.

"It was a combination of good teamwork and excellent team management. We intend to end on a high," said Dempo coach Armando Colaco.

The Goans have a full squad at their disposal for the match but Ranty Martins stays doubtful.

Meanwhile, Prayag United coach Sanjoy Sen lauded his boys for performing consistently throughout the season.

"We have had a reasonable season so far. We remained unbeaten against the big teams like Dempo, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. We even defeated Dempo away at Goa which was a creditable result. We hope to repeat the feat again."

Prayag's Bello Razzaq stays out of contention for the match due to a double booking.
