Ahluwalia loses Rajya Sabha seat from Jharkhand

Ranchi, May 3 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader S.S. Ahluwalia has lost the Rajya Sabha election in Jharkhand.

Ahluwalia, who was a former Rajya Sabha Deputy Leader of Opposition, needed 23 votes, but could manage to get only 20 in the polls that were held today.

This verdict has come as a major embarrassment for the BJP, as Ahluwalia is one of the senior party leaders.

Meanwhile, the candidates of the Congress Party and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) won the Rajya Sabha polls winning 25 and 23 votes respectively.

JMM had fielded Supreme Court lawyer Sanjeev Kumar, while Pradeep Balmuchu was the Congress candidate in the polls. (ANI)
