Bid winner of Cher's Adelaide City key refuses to pay

Melbourne, May 2 (ANI): The man who successfully bid for singer Cher's Key to the City of Adelaide on eBay, is refusing to pay for the item.

According to interstate reports, the Melbourne man placed the winning bid of 95,900 dollars as a protest against the sale and never had any intention of honouring the transaction, the Daily Telegraph reported.

He said the listing of the gift on the auction website was insulting to Adelaide.

When it was revealed last month the 65-year-old diva was selling the key and its accompanying plaque - which she was given at the 1990 Grand Prix - the move attracted criticism from prominent South Australians, among them Adelaide Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood.

Cher herself last week claimed that she had no knowledge of the sale. (ANI)
