Raipur, May 2(ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today said abducted Sukma District Collector Alex Paul Menon would be released on Thursday by the Maoists.

Interacting with mediapersons here, Singh said the mediators would be provided all facilities to get Menon back.

"We were hoping that they will release him within 48 hours but they have fixed the date of release for May 3. So we are okay with it, even if its 24 hours late. We welcome this decision and we will provide every facility to the mediators," Singh said.

Maoists' interlocutor, B. D. Sharma said today they would meet the abductors on Thursday, but refused to comment about the demands made by them.

Maoists had kidnapped Menon after killing his two bodyguards on April 21while he was meeting locals in Manjhipara village under the 'Gram Suraj' programme. (ANI)
