Lahore, Apr 25 (ANI): Pakistan cricket team coach Dav Whatmore has told upcoming fast bowler Mohammad Irfan to use his height to extract more pace and bounce.

Revealing this, Irfan said that having Whatmore as the head coach has proved to be an advantage.

"He told me I should try and bowl just like I did in Sri Lanka. He said that if I could bowl like that and learn to take full advantage of my height, then I would be a great asset," said Irfan.

Whatmore was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coaching squad when Irfan visited Sri Lanka for his KKR trials. According to Cricistan.com, Whatmore and the KKR coaching team were so impressed with Irfan's bowling that they signed him up on the spot.

Irfan and six other teammates- Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Yousuf, Sohail Tanvir and Aizaz Cheema- were at the National Cricket Academy to undergo strict fitness tests. (ANI)
