Indian-origin South Carolina Governor Haley would decline VP slot

Washington, Apr.3 (ANI): South Carolina's Indian-origin Governor Nicky Haley has said that if she is offered an opportunity to run as a Republican running mate in this year's presidential polls, she would decline.

Governor Haley told ABC News: "I'd say, 'Thank you, but no. I made a promise to the people of this state. And, I think that promise matters. And, I intend to keep it."

"South Carolinians are strong, independently minded people," Haley said.

"At the end of the day, they make their own decisions. And, I respect them for that. And, I welcome that. And, I told him (Mitt Romney) that from the very beginning."

According to The Politico, Haley is not necessarily one of the top three or four most appealing running mates for Romney, there's probably more to gain from ruling out the vice presidency in advance as an act of loyalty to South Carolina. (ANI)
