Pattinson claims 3-25 in Victoria versus South Australia game to stake Oz comeback claim

Melbourne, Feb 21(ANI): Australian pacer James Pattinson has staked a claim for a recall to the Australian squad after claiming 3-25 for Victoria against South Australia.

Victoria coach Greg Shipperd said Pattinson could return to first-class action in Perth against Western Australia.

"He's done more than wicket damage. I think he might have broken some young fellow's hand or forearm or both. He has bowled very well today," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Shipperd, as saying.

Shipperd said the Pattinson's plan was to bowl 10 overs in each innings of this week's four-day game and added that Pattinson had changed his footwear to avoid a recurrence of the injury.

"Hopefully that's going to contribute to him making sure that compression when you land is minimised and he can bowl happily for Test after Test," Shipperd said.

Pattinson, who played four Tests in December and January, is building his fitness base before Australia's Test tour of the West Indies in April. (ANI)
