Lee keen to play despite painful toe to equal McGrath's record of highest wicket taker

Melbourne , Mon, 20 Feb 2012 ANI

Melbourne, Feb 20(ANI): Australian cricketer Brett Lee has stressed he will play through the pain barrier, as he is on the verge of approaching Glenn McGrath's record of being as country's top one-day wicket-taker.

Lee, who had earlier been ruled out for almost two months due to a broken toe, has claimed 361 wickets and is 19 wickets short of equaling McGrath's record.

He claimed 3-49 from 10 overs in the recent one -day international against Indiaee said he is not interested in taking a tri-series break to nurse his toe.

"I'm not keen to rest, period. I've had enough rest in my life (due to injuries) and I'll rest when I finally hang the boots up," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Lee, as saying.

"I think that with my toe, it's very painful but you find a way to play through it and I think I'm past the worst of it. It's going to get better as each game goes on," he added.

"It's amazing what you can do when you have a chance to play for your country. As long as I can't do any further damage, it's a matter of playing through that pain barrier," Lee said. (ANI)
