Delhi education committee chief proposes salary hike for MCD's contractual teachers

New Delhi, Feb.17 (ANI): The chairman of the Education Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Dr. Mahinder Nagpal, has proposed a salary hike for teachers teaching in municipal primary schools on contractual basis.

 

The civic body had increased the salary of these teachers on August 25, 2011 from Rs. 11,000 to Rs. 13,500.

 

Former Delhi mayor Mahesh Chand Sharma proposed an increase in salary of contractual teachers from Rs. 13,500/- to Rs. 20,385/-(Pay Band 9,300+ Grade Pay 4,200+D.A 51% Rs. 6885 rupee).

 

Sharma demanded that contractual teachers who have been working for years in the MCD schools and are not able to fulfil the age criteria due to overage should be allowed to appear in the Delhi Subordinate Selection Service Board exams for filling the vacancy on permanent basis.

 

In this regard, Dr. Nagpal said that the DSSSB should complete the process of recruiting teachers in art, music and physical education field as soon as possible.

 

The Deputy Chairman of the Education Committee, Bhupender Gupta and committee member Narender Jeet Singh gave their consent to the proposal.

 

He said officials have been instructed to increase the salary of contractual teachers by increasing their dearness allowance as soon as possible. (ANI)
