Narayanpur, Jan 14 (ANI): A daring villager abducted by Maoists escaped the clutches of his captors in the Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur District on Friday.
According to police officials, a band of Maoists had forcibly taken away the villager, Motiram Dugga, from his residence in the Uchakot village of Narayanpur a few days ago.
The ultras held Dugga captive in a densely forested area near Narayanpur while repeatedly beating him with brazen impunity. Dugga managed to hoodwink the Maoists and escaped from their captivity.
In the melee, irate Maoists shot Dugga in the leg, following which he was admitted to a District Hospital.
Speaking to mediapersons, senior police officials of the district said Maoists seemed to have abducted Dugga to 'punish' him for being an alleged 'police informer.'
"Some Maoists had visited the residence of this man, Motiram Dugga, who hails from the Uchakot village early in the morning on January 11, 2012. They tied up his hands, abducted him and took him to nearby forest area. There were around 15-20 armed Maoists present there. They accused him of being a police informer, and beat him brutally," said P.P. Singh, the Station House Officer of the Narayanpur Police Station.
Recounting his ordeal, a severely injured Dugga revealed how he managed to give the dreaded ultras the slip.
"From nine in the morning till five in the evening, they beat me up. Later, they gave me food and took me a nearby hillock. I let the Maoists fall asleep. After that, I untied my hands by loosening the ropes and ran from the place. While I was trying to escape, the Maoists shot me from behind," said Dugga. (ANI)
