STORY: Students of India's northwestern state of Rajasthan consumed milk instead of liquor and welcomed New Year in a very unique and healthy manner on Friday (December 31).
The entire Jaipur city consumed milk, which was offered free of cost to the locals.
The Vice Chancellor of the Rajasthan University in the province said that the milk party was organised to spread a message among locals of having a positive approach towards life.
"This has been done to stop the youth generation from drinking liquor and to attract them towards the symbol of our culture and health, milk. This is done to set an example in the society and to give a positive thinking to the youth; a positive thinking which is positive for the society and their family members as well. If they take this kind of approach, this will not be a programme instead it would become an agitation and this will contribute towards ending the social evil," said B. L. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the University.
A student said that he wants to give a message to his fellow Indians to stop consuming liquor.
"If they quite liquor, Rajasthan state will progress very fast and will be a happy state. The incidents that happen because of drinking liquor are also bad. So, I would give my fellow Indians a message to stop drinking liquor and start drinking milk," said Ramjilal Meena, a student of the Rajasthan University.
The entire city celebrated New Year in a unique way by drinking milk and not liquor.
The volunteers felt that at least those around 5000 people who relished hot and sweet milk on the counters would never taste liquor.
