Pak SC accepts 'contempt of court' petition against Musharraf, Shaukat Aziz

Islamabad, Dec 3 (ANI): Pakistan's Supreme Court has accepted a petition against former president Pervez Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz and other top military and civilian functionaries for violating the apex court's November 3, 2007 verdict.

 

The petition was filed under Article 184(3) read with Article 204 of the Constitution, making 17 military and civilian functionaries of the Musharraf-led government, who held top public offices when an emergency was clamped on November 3, 2007, as respondents, the Daily Times reported.

 

The petition was accepted after deletion of the names of four respondents- former Punjab governor Lt Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, KP Governor Awais Ahmed Ghani and Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ahmed Magsi.

 

The petitioner requested the Supreme Court to summon the respondents, prosecute and punish them for committing contempt of court by violating the apex court's November 3, 2007 restrain order. (ANI)
