Murli Deora flags off walkathon for 'Petrotech 2010' in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct.24 (ANI): Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora flagged off a walkathon here on Sunday, organised ahead of the upcoming international oil and gas conference and exhibition-'Petrotech 2010'.

 

The Delhi walkathon was held to mark a series of such events organised by Oil Public Sector Units (PSUs) in several other cities of the country.

 

Deora, while speaking on this occasion today said that the purpose of organising the walkathons is to create awareness about conserving energy under the slogan 'Conserve Energy, Burn Calories'.

 

He also called for developing habits to avoid taking out vehicles to places which can be accessed on foot.

 

The walkathon was attended by senior Petroleum Ministry officials, including Petroleum Secretary, S. Sundareshan, CEOs of Oil PSUs, leading sports personalities, including Commonwealth Games 2010 Gold medallist Ms Ashwini Ponnappa, Indian hockey (Men's) team captain Rajpal Singh, leading cricketer Ishan Sharma etc.
