UNICEF brings MGML course for Chhattisgarh school children

Raipur, Oct.19 (ANI): The Chhattisgarh government along with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) introduced a Multi Grade-Multi Level (MGML) course for school students in the state.

The course aims to enhance the intelligence and mental aptitude of the students at the level of primary education.

The students have shown great interest in studies with the help of the MGML course.

"With the help of these cards and logos, we feel enthusiastic about studying. Earlier we used to bring our own books and notebooks but now it is not necessary. With the help of these chart cards, we understand many things easily and we pass in examinations as well," said Sonulal Sahu, a student.

MGML course has been specially drafted for the students of government-aided schools.

In MGML, students are taught with visuals and objects. The course, based on self- evaluation, is beneficial for teachers also, as their workload gets lightened.

"First, we educate the students with the help of logos of any thing. Then the students study from charts or object tables. All the students study together here. The students from different classes or standards also study in the same classroom with the support of each other," said Shilpa Mishra, a teacher of the MGML course.

"The best part of this training programme is that the students study together and help each other. We need not focus more on the students. We give time in Shiksha Samarthit Samooh and then give instructions to only a group of students. Later, the students explain to each other the whole concept," she added.

The course is flexible as also permits students of a particular standard to be promoted to the higher grade if their aptitude is more in keeping with the latter. By Shiv Sankar Sarathi(ANI)
