Yamunanagar (Haryana), Sept.12 (ANI): Flood waters have washed away a shrine dedicated to the Goddess Saraswati, in Haryana's Yamunanagar District.
The shrine was located at a spot where it said the mythical River Saraswati used to flow. The river is said to have dried up thousands of years ago.
The temple and an adjoining sacred pond that was filled with rocks and mud, marks the source of the River Saraswati.
Ashok Sagwan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the news.
Sagwan said waters from a collapsed dam were responsible for the sweeping away of the shrine.
The floods have also devastated property and crops in about 120 villages in the district.
Sangwan said efforts were on to link roads and to re-establish the communication network. (ANI)
