London, Aug 9 (ANI): US President Barack Obama and senior Democratic politicians are attempting to revive unpopular memories of former President George W Bush in a bid to undermine the resurgence of Republicans ahead of the November mid-term elections.
According to The Telegraph, Democrat members of Congress, who are campaigning for November's elections, have been advised to remind voters of the alleged damage caused to the US economy by Bush administration policies.
Over the past week, Obama had been attacking Bush during a series of fundraising events for Democrats across the country.
"They don't have a single idea that's different from George Bush's ideas - not one," the President said during speeches in Atlanta and Chicago.
Bush, who has kept a low profile since stepping down, would be publishing his memoir 'Decision Points' describing the ten key decisions he took while in office just days after the mid-term elections.
Democrat strategists hope that details of the book will begin leaking in the run-up to polling day placing the Bush legacy as a central issue for voters, the paper states.
Meanwhile, Democrat politicians have started using images of the former president in multi-million dollar television advertising campaigns.
Robert Menendez, the New Jersey senator who is heading the Democratic Senatorial Campaign committee, said: "The reality is that people associate the Bush era as an economic failure. The question is, 'Do we move forward, away from those economic policies?'"
However, the supporters of Bush have criticized the move.
"I don't think a lot of people are sitting around thinking, what George Bush be doing?', " "They don't care. They have a house they can't sell. They have a job they are worried about losing.
All they hear is this whining and complaining and blaming," Dana Perino, the former President's press secretary, said. (ANI)
