Kuala Lumpur, Mar. 23 (ANI): The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) is all set to submit its recommendations on the inclusion of the Indian community's issues in the 10th Malaysia Plan to the Government.
MIC President S. Samy Vellu said the recommendations, drafted with the cooperation of 75 Indian-based non-governmental organisations and Universiti Malaya's Ethnic Studies Department, would be submitted to the Prime Minister's Department on Friday.
"The recommendations include an emphasis on setting up pre-school classes and upgrading standards and infrastructure in Tamil schools," The Star Online quoted Vellu, as saying.
"We are also seeking special initiatives for Indians in education, economy, training, housing, employment and women's affairs," Vellu added.
He further said that the Malaysian Government had recently approved a 160 million-ringgit grant for the refurbishment of Tamil schools.
He urged the government to allocate more funds to upgrade another 200 Tamil schools. (ANI)
