Pak accountability court quashes corruption case against Malik

Karachi, Thu, 04 Mar 2010 ANI

Karachi, Mar.4 (ANI): An accountability court here has acquitted Interior Minister Rehman Malik in a corruption case filed against him.

Talking to media persons after the court's verdict, Malik termed all corruption cases filed against him as 'baseless' and said: "Justice has finally prevailed."

"I am hopeful of being acquitted in other cases as well as I am innocent and there is no corruption case that has been proven against me. Justice prevailed and it is the victory of judiciary," The Nation quoted Malik, as saying.

It may be noted that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a case against Malik in 2004 for allegedly misusing his position as an Additional Director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Malik was accused of providing duty-free quota of 50,000 tonnes of bitumen to an agency, owner of which had close relations with him. (ANI)
