Highest magic trick world record attempt hit by Burj Tower's broken lift

Dubai, Sat, 27 Feb 2010 ANI

Dubai, Feb 27(ANI): A British magician's hopes of breaking the world record for the world's highest trick have vanished after the lift at the tallest building on the planet, the Burj Tower, broke.

Mel Harvey was invited over to the Burj Tower to perform a new trick by the Dubai Tourist Board, as an added attraction to the record-smashing building.

However, instead of wowing tourists, the building left 15 of the troupe trapped inside for nearly an hour.

It meant that Harvey had no way to climb all the 2,700 feet to the summit of the building, where he had been all set to perform the trick after spending days perfecting the illusion.

"We were all ready to go ahead with it at the top of the tower, but there was a slight technical hitch - the lift broke," The Telegraph quoted Harvey, as saying.

"People were stranded in there the day before we were due to do the stunt so we couldn't get up there. It was still an amazing trip and at least I was the first to float a table in front of the highest building in the world," he added. (ANI)
