National Foundation for Teachers' Welfare organizes voluntary fund collection drive
New Delhi, Sept 3 (ANI): The National Foundation for Teachers' Welfare organised a voluntary fund collection drive here today ahead of Teachers' Day.
The drive was carried out with the help of students and teachers from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector-II, R.K. Puram and Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas.
The funds collected on the occasion will be utilised for the welfare of teachers.
After the fund collection drive, the students from the above schools presented a cultural programme at Reading Hall of Central Secretariat Library, Shastri Bhawan. Secretary, School Education and Literacy (SE and L) was the chief Guest of the function.
The National Foundation for Teachers' Welfare was set up in 1962 with the main objective to provide financial assistance to teachers in indigent circumstances.
The Foundation is operating various schemes like financial assistance for the construction of shikshak sadans, financial assistance to teachers suffering from serious ailments, paid holiday to eminent teachers who have rendered meritorious services, and support for professional education of children of School teachers for the welfare of teachers all over India.
The Foundation celebrates Teachers' Day to mark the birthday of Dr.S. Radhakrishnan, former President, noted educationist and philosopher. (ANI)
