Bhubaneswar hosts Rajarani music festival

Bhubaneswar, Fri, 22 Jan 2010 ANI

Bhubaneswar, Jan 22 (ANI): Bhubaneswar recently played host to the three-day annual Rajarani Music Festival at the 11th century Rajarani Temple.

The festival was organized to promote tourism in the city. The Bhubaneswar Music Circle, one of the oldest cultural organizations in the city hosted it.

"This is the only festival which gives importance and exclusivity to classical music. All three styles of classical music - Hindustani, Carnatic and Odissi - get a place on this stage," said Sangita Gosain, Joint Secretary, Bhubaneswar Music Circle.

Artists of national repute, including both vocalists and instrumentalists took part in it.

"We feel happy and content when our audience are music-lovers. The listener is a much bigger critic for us as they have the ability to point out our mistakes. Then we also relish performing in front of such an informed audience," said Sufi singer Puranchand Wadali.

"What appeals to me is the immense depth, the incredible support, the community, and the music, which is a part of life. To see musicians actually being able to live their music and share it, is so amazing and I am so glad to experience that," said Alexandra, a Poland tourist. (ANI)
