Oct 31: There is an occasion to cheer for those who love messaging in Hindi because now Yahoo India is going to start its email and instant messaging services in Hindi and other regional languages.

Yahoo decided to launch Hindi mail keeping in mind the large number of users of online services, which are going to add to the list of users in future. This is to be known that around 200 million Indian users of Internet services are expected to grow in next few years.

Pranesh Anthapur, chief administrator officer of Yahoo India said that this would be a gaining opportunity for the advertisers too who are willing to reach to non-English speaking population of India.

What user has to do is just to have a Hindi font to make use of new services in Hindi. Yahoo web IM would allow chatting in 9 Indian languages (Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati). New version will have all the information as the English version has. For instant messaging too no down loads are required.

By this initiative of offering the user to write and read mails and messages in Hindi the largest brand of India wants to penetrate Hindi-speaking areas of India.

“We are creating a more local e-mail experience. In addition, we want to make sure that people have the best possible web mail experience regardless of their geographic location, preferences or system”, said the vice president of Yahoo mail.

By this version, more users will have the web experience and will be able to have information such as news, previews, reviews etc. Other content may include daily horoscopes, astrology, vaastushastra, and information about cookery (regional, continental), health, entertainment etc.

By this initiative Yahoo became the first company of launching such services in Hindi.
