Bhubaneshwar, Oct 19 (ANI): The cyclist, who is on a unique pedaling expedition spreading the message of world peace, recently reached Bhubaneshwar.

Laxmikanta Maiti, 35, an ayurvedic practitioner by profession, from Rajnagar block in Orissa's Kendrapara district has started this arduous mission of India tour on a bicycle on August 15.

Through this expedition, Maiti wants to pay homage to the freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives and freed the country from the British Raj, and to spread the message of love, peace and brotherhood along with creating awareness about AIDS, swine flu, cholera and several diseases.

"While touring India, I will spread message of universal brotherhood and friendship. Nowadays, several incurable diseases have started spreading. I will create awareness about these diseases. To stop the spread of AIDS, swine flu, cholera, diarrhea, plague like diseases, I will seek everybody's support. I will advise all to drink water after filtering it, while stepping out, wrap your face with a handkerchief and request them to keep their surrounding neat and clean," said Maiti.

The interesting thing about his bicycle is that it sans chain, break, sheet, mudguard cover and bell. He has been riding his bicycle with the help of his two hands and feet.

Hundreds of spectators like Krushna Chandra Sahu, who came to witness this feat, said, " Maiti has started touring India. His cycle has no chain, no seat and no break. He made us aware us about swine flu and AIDS. He advises us how to stop the spread of such diseases on our personal level."

On reaching New Delhi, Maiti plans to meet President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. By Sharda Lahangir (ANI)
