CCEA approves sale of wheat by FCI under Open Market Sale Scheme

New Delhi, August 21 (ANI): The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Thursday gave its approval for sale of wheat under Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS).
The Committee said OMSS of wheat will be undertaken only after ensuring that the norms fixed by the Government for buffer and strategic reserve are met.

The quantity to be released under OMSS, timing of intervention and the locations will be taken by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
The Government will allocate wheat to State, Union Territories (UT) Governments for distribution to retail consumers under OMSS. For bulk consumers, the sale will be made by Food Corporation of India (FCI) through a process of open tendering. (ANI)
