New Delhi, Sat, 10 Oct 2009 ANI

New Delhi, Oct. 10 (ANI): The election campaigning for Thursday's State Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh will conclude on Sunday (Oct. 11).

The Assembly elections in three states are likely to be a litmus test for all major parties to exhibit their strength since the Lok Sabha elections.

During the month long process, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh addressed an election rally at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh, Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi had addressed rallies at Karnal and Sirsa in Haryana, while Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally in Bhopal.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders L. K. Advani, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley also campaigned in these poll-bound states.

It is notable that all the three States are ruled by Congress, which shares power in Maharashtra with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) as a coalition partner.

Maharashtra has a 288-member State Assembly, Haryana; a 90-member Assembly House and Arunachal Pradesh State Assembly has 60 members.

There are 2,061 polling stations in Arunachal Pradesh, 12,894 in Haryana and 82,028 in Maharashtra.

The counting is to held on October 22. The election process will complete on October 25. (ANI)
