Artists' workshop to interact with art lovers

Chandigarh, Aug 16 (ANI): Some professional artists recently organised a workshop titled 'A For Artists' in an attempt to interact with art lovers.

Seven 1990s Bachelor of Fine Arts graduates from the Government of College of Arts, Chandigarh, who are working as professional artists around the country, got together to display their work.

The five-day workshop was aimed at introducing the visual vocabulary to the visitors in an interactive way.

The visitors enthusiastically discussed their interpretation of artworks with the artists.

"We have a platform for an exhibition depicting our way of making art. Even though exhibitions usually held here, but the process of working and different techniques of an artist have never been displayed. People should see it; interact because if you don't know the artist it is very difficult to understand his work. So, we have provided an open platform for the people to come and interact with us," said Rajesh Kalsi, an organiser and painter.

For the artists, it was an opportunity to explore and share ideas with one another.

Kalsi worked on paintings depicting an astrologer while another painter, Anshul Dhull concentrated on portraying the life of a common man.

Vishal Bhatnagar focused on the spiritual relationship between the universe, human being and the creator.

For the visitors, a majority of them being art students, it was a bonanza to interact closely with the artists.

Japneet Kaur, an art student, said, "We have learnt a lot as we are directly interacting with the artists. Being a student, I am getting a great exposure. I have always painted by reference drawing, but I am learning as how to paint through expressions."

"When such events are held they are very useful and enriching. I feel so good that we got an opportunity to see a variety of artwork. Workshops are held in Jalandhar and other places in Punjab and this adds another jewel to its crown," said Surjeet Kaur, a visitor and art teacher.

Depicting the various colors of life, the seven artists have added a new facet to the promotion of arts. By Paramjit Rangpuri (ANI)
