Srinagar, Aug 14 (ANI): A two-day kite festival began in Kashmir in which designer kites of infinite variety have been displayed.

The kite festival has been staged annually since 2004 by the state's Department of Tourism.

"We want to show them all kinds of kites. We want them to make kite flying their hobby. Kite flying is a visual delight," said Yasin, a kite flyer.

The festival draws kite-makers and flyers from various parts of the state.

"They have participated in international kite festivals. They are awardees. They have displayed their skill in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and rest of the states. They have also participated in China and Turkey," said S.M Sahni, Director, Tourism.

Another kite festival was held in New Delhi that saw a huge participation of kite flyers.

The festival brought a smile on the faces of several children who gathered to catch a glimpse of the colourful extravaganza. (ANI)
