Disproportionate assets case against Major General by CBI
Oct 11: In a disproportionate assets case against Army’s high official Anand Kapoor who is currently serving Army as Major General at south western command Jaipur, CBI conducted raids at 12 different places to discover the alleged ill-earned property.

CBI raided his residences in Delhi, Jaipur, Shimla, Gurgaon and Mumbai.
FIR registered by the CBI says that Kapoor and his family members have six immovable properties worth 5.33 crores at different places. Apart from immovable property they also have bank deposits of Rs. 60 lacs and other investments worth crores of rupees. CBI joint director N R Wasan told that incriminating documents pertaining to the properties also have been seized during the raids.
Defence minister A K Antony has termed it as a move to weed out any kind of corruption from defence. He said, “We will not tolerate any kind of corruption.”
This is not first time that corruption charges against a high official of Army has been brought but several major Generals and lieutenant Generals are facing such charges. Lt. Gen. SK Sahni, Lt Gen S K Dahiya and Major General Chopra, Brigadier V K Anand are some names which have come to the fore in corruption charges.
CBI has also seized tiger and bear skins from his Delhi residence which can bring him to book under Wildlife (Protection) Act and Excise Act. Apart from this 50 bottles of imported liquor have also been recovered by the central intelligence agency.
Major General Kapoor, and ordinance corps officer has also been awarded Vishist Sewa Medal.
Agency also found that the ancestral property of the Major General does not make any considerable contribution to the huge amount of wealth under his possession.
After the initial investigations Central intelligence agency has registered a case against him on Thursday and Major General has been asked to report to CBI headquarters with all the documents required for further investigation.
