Michelle Obama and daughters visit upmarket London pub for fish and chips

London, June 10 (ANI): American First Lady Michelle Obama and her two daughters-Malia, 10, and Sasha, eight-popped into the upmarket Audley pub in London's Mayfair for fish and chips during their private visit there.

Although the pub had a booking for 25 people in the private upstairs dining room, they had no idea that they would be serving Michelle's party.

While Michelle opted for a 9.15-pound sirloin steak, her little daughters went for the fish supper at 7.95 pounds.

"We were speechless when they walked in. I couldn't believe it. But they were all very friendly, smiling and laughing," the Daily Express quoted Cintia Pinto, 24, who served Michelle on Monday night, as saying.

"They made us feel calm. The girls were so sweet and polite. They thanked us every time we brought them something. It was a real honour," Pinto added.

Manager John Gohery said: "It was a real surprise and a pleasure. We've had other famous people coming in but nothing on this scale."

The Obamas arrived at the pub around 7pm amid tight security. When they left two hours later, police had closed the road.

Their bill came to a little over 200 pounds, and was said to have included a generous tip.

Before Michelle enjoyed dinner at the pub, she had had tea with Gordon Brown's wife Sarah.

The US First Family, who are currently enjoying a short private holiday in London, were yesterday set to tour Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

They were due to visit the set of the latest Harry Potter film at Pinewood and were expected to meet Daniel Radcliffe and other stars. (ANI)
