Veraval (Gujarat), June 9 (ANI): The world wide recession has also taken a toll on the fishing industry of Veraval in Gujarat.

Traders are despondent as its been six months since the business slow down began, and most of fishing stock which that was meant for export is now lying in cold storages.

"Normally, we used to get plenty orders but this time due to recession, countries like China which takes 60 per cent of our fish, and countries like Europe and America which take 40 per cent of our fish , have not purchased this much quantity this year. They used to do bumper purchases in the month of December, but it did not happen this year," said Chunibhai Gohel of Nihantre Exports.

Veraval in Gujarat is home to the large number of fish processing factories, which export prime quality seafood to USA, Japan, China, South East Asia, Gulf and European countries.
