Ujjain
Ujjain is a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Previously known as Ujain, Ujjayini, Avanti and Avantikapuri, the city commands the great religious and historical importance. Stunningly serenaded by the Kshipra River the city commands a great importance for Hindu devotees. Owing to its importance the city has found mention in the various hindu epic literatures including Mahabharata. The city has served as the capital of Avanti Kingdom in ancient times.
