This city in Nashik district is inhibited by people of different communities who live in complete harmony. Situated at 280 km northeast of great Indian metropolis Mumbai, it is one of the largest cities in the northwest Maharashtra, only next to Nashik. With presence of various educational institutions the city has emerged as one of the important hub of education in this region. Resided by people of Hindu and Muslim communities, the major languages spoken in this region are Urdu, Marathi and English.

Despite being a popular destination, there is lot need to be done in terms of infrastructure to keep pace with the fast paced development of Malegaon. The history of Malegaon can be traced back to 1740 when a local landlord commenced building a fort that took 25 years to complete. The then small hamlet witnessed influx of thousands of Muslims workers and artisans from different parts of India. After annexation of the Malegaon fort by the British in 1818; the city received a sizable number of Muslims from Hyderabad. This trend of settling down of Muslims population continued for a very long time. Stuck by famine of 1862 a large number of Muslim weavers left Varanasi to settle down in Malegaon. Owing to their arrival one can find various handlooms and power-looms in the city of Malegaon. The economy of Malegaon revolves around its booming textile industry. As per one estimate, there is more than one lac power-looms that are a great source of employment and revenue.

Tourist visiting the city Malegaon can explore the major tourist attractions of the city that includes Urdu Library, Malegaon fort and Shahi Masjid. One can find accommodation of their budget and choice without facing much difficulty.
