Jalandhar
Jalandhar is a city in the Indian state of Punjab. The city is said to have derived its name from a devil king named Jalandhar, whose name is mentioned in the great Hindu epics of Puranas and Mahabharta. Some other legends say that the place has served as the capital of the kingdom of Lav, son of Lord Rama. Some others say that the city seems to have got its name from the `Jalandhar’ meaning the land submerged inside the water. So it appears that there is no anonymity on the origin of the word Jalandhar. The city always remains in limelight due to its prominence and latest news form Jalandhar can be found round the year.
Sandwiched between the plain of Beas and Sutlej Rivers the region is known for its fertile soil. Well connected by road and rail networks, it is also a bustling market for agricultural products.
