With success of the film, Freida made a name in the list of Hollywood actresses without navigating through the murky waters of Bollywood. Her transformation from a not-so-known model to one of the most sought after actresses on the world stage is nothing sort of a miracle.

Here it is relevant to know something about early life and family background of Freida, Indian face in the Hollywood. Born on October 18, 1984 in Mumbai to Frederick Pinto and Sylvia Pin, Freida wanted to be a heroine since she was five. When Sushmita Sen won the miss Universe Title in 1994, her dreams became determination. Her decision to realize her dreams got reinforced. Freida pinto attended St. Joseph School in Malad, Mumbai. Later she went to St. Xavier's College, Mumbai to obtain a degree in Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a major in English Literature. Later she joined a modeling academy and did modeling for some years. Her mother is a school principal while her father is a senior branch manager in a bank. Her sister is an associate producer at a TV channel.

Before getting her big break and ticket to Hollywood she was working on a travel show and doing some advertising campaigns.
