Who cares about our security?

Deepak Mohanty

The horror perpetrated in Mumbai has left all humanity shocked and stunned. The attack on India has changed the whole national psyche with anger, frustration and determination. People have come out on streets against the inability of our law makers, who time and again are busy in gaining political mileage out of such an incident which is not only an attack on Mumbai, but an assault on India.

Again our internal security apparatus failed to thwart such a dastardly act, but our government is still mulling over creating a federal investigating agency, a pressing need of the hour considering the fragmentation of our security system. But, who knows how much time will it take, who cares about our security?

This country has witnessed scores of terror strike in past, but this was well coordinated and the biggest one, then why our security establishment is so disintegrated? Why our politicians are hesitant to accept the truth of public outrages? Are not they accountable in a democratic set up?

Time has come that our politicians should come out from their pity party politics and think for the nation as a whole by taking action for change. The people want to see more determined effort or else terrorism will remain the most potent enemy for our foreseeable future.
